Railway Challenge – Bombardier/Derby University Team

Congratulations to the Relec sponsored Bombardier/Derby University team entry into the Institute of Mechanical Engineers – Railway Challenge, to design and manufacture a miniature (10¼”) railway locomotive, in accordance with a set of rules and a technical specification. The team won the noise challenge for the quietest loco both on track and during start-up. They were also awarded the judge’s prize for a great effort for their first ever entry into the Railway Challenge competition. Relec supplied two AEK3000-48 3kW 48Vdc power supplies, each driving the 48V power bogie motors via controllers from the 230Vac on-board generator and energy storage system.

New Fanless 600W Modular Power supply
