Network Rail is upgrading to a new SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) system, to control traction power and distribution across the national rail network in the UK. As part of this our client needed to power his 24Vdc system from the trackside 48Vdc battery backed supply using an EN50121 compliant system.

We had to find a module that fitted with a 20mm height profile, but we also took them through their EMC requirements (needed EN55022 class B), thermal considerations (kitchens get warm) and long term reliability of the product.

The engineering team at Relec worked closely with the customer to identify the best possible solution.
