A UK-based manufacturing customer approached us with a clear problem: their fixed touchscreen HMI just wasn’t cutting it anymore. As the production line evolved, so did the need for more flexibility. They wanted to move to a mobile, durable interface, but still needed something that could plug into their existing setup with wired LAN and stable power when needed.
After understanding the environment and needs, we proposed the MAA1013 10.1” Android Rugged Tablet from MACTRON Group. A reliable, IP65-rated solution with MIL-STD-810G shock resistance and a wide operating temperature range (-20°C to +60°C). It offered the best of both worlds: the portability of a tablet and the toughness of a factory-grade HMI.
Powered by a fanless MTK MT6789 processor, with 1280 x 800 resolution, PCAP touch, and 700cd/m² brightness, it could handle even the brightest workstations or the chilliest corners of the plant. Built-in WiFi, 4G, NFC, and a 13MP rear camera meant it was a connected tool for real-time factory use.
The customer’s biggest concern? How to mount it securely at the machine while still retaining the mobile functionality.
That’s where our ACARMN3 VESA cradle came in. Not just a stand, it doubled as a charging dock with LAN passthrough, making the tablet a true HMI when docked. And for added flexibility, we suggested the desktop docking station for bench use—complete with USB, DC, RS232, and RJ45 ports.

Within days, the customer had upgraded from a rigid, wall-mounted HMI to a rugged, mobile interface that could move with operators or lock in place when needed.
