The N1i External 6-watt AC/DC Power Supply for the "Smart Home"
The European Installation Bus will provide a convenient way to connect many different electronic "helpers" in the home. EGSTON presented a new, innovative power supply for these devices. Called the "N1i", the new switching power supply delivers a regulated output voltage and 6 W maximum power. It can be installed in a DIN flush box (even directly beneath a load), in furniture, or on a flat surface.
EGSTON offers the N1i as an OEM product only and is currently designing custom versions for several major manufacturers.
Major features of the N1i include a wide-range input from 90 to 264 V, current limiter, operating temp. from -20 to +50 °C, a case only 19 mm high, and a contour conforming to DIN flush boxes. Tested to EN 55015, FCC 47 Part 15, EN 61547, EN 61000-3-2, EN 61000-4-4, EN 61000-4-5, and SELV. Approvals: UL 1310, ENEC.
Unlike plug-mounted AC adapters or power supplies with two cables, the N1i from EGSTON can be installed in a DIN flush box or screw-mounted on a flat surface. Only 19 mm high, the N1i even leaves room for the load to be installed in the same flush box. Connection is by stranded wires that can be configured as desired. Alternatively, the N1i is available with pins for PCB mounting.
The N1i provides all the advantages of an external power supply (tested and approved subcontracted module, thermal separation from the load, simple installation, etc.) while eliminating its disadvantages such as dropping out of the wall outlet or getting disconnected unintentionally.
The new N1i provides a whole new powering technique, e.g., for house control systems, alarms, automation, communication equipment, Bluetooth base stations, etc.
EGSTON specializes in compact external power supplies and received the Austrian National Innovation Award for the world's smallest AC adapter in 1995.
