| The PSE EX piezo switch from SCHURTER has achieved approval according to ATEX class II 2 G Ex ib IIB T4 enabling the switch to be employed in explosive facilities above ground.
This ATEX protection level allows the PSE EX piezo switch to be used in applications in explosive atmospheres arising from a mixture of air, vapours or mists & other gasses.
The PSE EX switch is typically used in oil & gas production systems, the petro-chemical industry, as well as in paint and varnish mixing facilities. Preparations for extending the ATEX approval to include dust-Ex applications are underway.

The standard design is available with a mounting diameter of 16mm and a normally open switch contact. Voltage ratings are 24 VAC/DC and the current rating is 40mA. The housing is offered in both aluminium and stainless steel with colour variations available in the aluminium version.
The PSE EX is equipped with standard pin terminals. Additional mounting diameters and connection options are available with sufficient order quantities. The switches for Ex applications are labelled with the type of approval and an identification number. In accordance with the ATEX guidelines, an installation manual is provided with each PSE EX shipment.
