Actuator Control DC DC ConverterDC DC converter to power fluid actuator control system

The Requirement:

The quest was for a 75W dc dc converter to replace an existing ac dc power supply within an actuator used for fluid valve control in a variety of different industries. These actuators were to be fitted in remote sites with no access to mains electricity and were to be powered from solar panels.

The Solution:

The MDSB75W conduction cooled half brick dc dc converters from Magic Power were the ideal building blocks for this requirement, along with a custom cooling plate and EMC filtering designed to withstand the demands of lightning strikes and back EMF problems associated with inductive loads.
